Privacy Policy

Everything you enter stays on your own device. Second Wind has no accounts, no login, and no server that stores your data. We can’t see your profile, your pension figures, or anything else you type in.

The details you provide — your profile, savings accounts, budget, scenarios, and similar inputs — are saved only in your browser’s local storage, on the device you’re using. This information is never transmitted to us or to any server we control, and we have no ability to access it.

You are always in control of this data. You can clear it at any time from within the app or by clearing your browser storage, and you can move it between devices yourself using the Backup / Restore feature, which downloads and uploads a local file.

“Email My Summary” on the Export page is the one feature that sends your plan off your device. Everywhere else, your data stays in your browser; here, the summary is rendered into a PDF in your browser and then transmitted, together with the address you enter, to our email service (Resend) so it can be delivered to your inbox.

We do not store the PDF, and we do not log your email address. The address is used once to send the summary and is then discarded.

The one exception is the “let me know when Second Wind adds new tools” checkbox: if you tick it, your address is added to our announcements list held with Resend, solely for product updates. You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email. If you leave it unticked, nothing about you is retained.

We do not use advertising networks, cross-site trackers, or tracking cookies to profile you. We use cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count visits anonymously — no cookies, no personal data, no cross-site tracking. Second Wind does not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we don’t collect it in the first place.

The app is delivered as static files through Google Firebase Hosting. As with virtually all websites, the hosting provider’s servers may automatically record standard technical information — such as your IP address, browser type, and the files requested — for security and operational purposes. That logging is governed by Google’s privacy policy, and we do not use it to identify you.

Second Wind links to third-party resources such as CalPERS, ssa.gov, and external job boards. Those websites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for their content or how they handle your information. Review their policies before providing any data.

Second Wind is intended for working and retired public safety professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
